Sharon is a Change Agent
As a 50+ year old Christian single woman, who loves Jesus, I grew up as the youngest of all sisters. A typical fashionista who loved clothes and fashion and admired her mother who was very stylish, confident and poised in her presentation. I was a preachers kid who stayed in the church as a little girl between Sunday school, bible study, church services throughout the week day and weekends, Summer Bible School, and revival tent services, singing in the choir and attending a private school where saying the Lords prayer daily was a ritual. Not failing to mention watching my mother preach for 34 years from the pulpit, sealed the fact that I am pretty acclimated to hearing and knowing Gods word starting at a very young age.
My mother was probably my true first example model of style because she knew how to wear the pretties 2 piece suites with the fitted waist line, skirt that fell mid calf, and a tailored blazer and she always accented her look with a dainty floral handkerchief, a bright flowery pendant, and these beautiful big hats that adorned her head with grace and style when she walked in the church house.
No she didn’t wear these hats in the pulpit, but she definitely knew how to walk in as a Woman of God. She was my personal model growing up so it was no surprise that I fell in love with fashion as a little girl.
“Its quite interesting to think that after all these years we rarely hear much talk about the influence fashion has on Christianity and how Christianity has an influence on fashion.”
As an adult I spent several years working for the largest modeling agency in the world when I first realized how much she enjoyed mentoring young adults. While serving in this capacity, I had the opportunity to visit countless middle and high schools throughout North Carolina and encourage students to have a positive self-image. It was through this great experience and my passion for working with youth that I developed a program that focused on building inner beauty, self-esteem and promoting a healthy body image using fashion to capture and hold the interest of youth.
The organization’s mission is to empower teen girls and young adult women to develop character, confidence, a positive body image, self-esteem, and strong leadership skills. Sharon has mentored and served well over 3000+ young adults throughout her career. She is proud and grateful to see young ladies who have gone through the program grow into productive, independent, and confident adults.
